I certainly didn’t have similar problems with GoodReader, the software I use to annotate PDFs. Perhaps if you use another note-taking app. The Notes app - and only this app - had problems recognizing the Neo Duo. Apple seems to have done something to make the app work better with a fingertip than with a stylus. That said, I tested taking notes in the iPhone Notes application and ran into difficulties. Or just scrolling through web pages with a stylus instead of your finger. Or tapping out messages on that tiny iPhone keyboard. Which makes the Adonit Neo Duo or Duo better suited for me. I don’t want these to change on the fly by the way I hold my stylus. I like to manually set line widths and painting colors. Just press the button to turn the stylus on or off, with a blue LED showing the status. It doesn’t have iPhone mode so you don’t have to bother with it. Expect 7 or 8 hours of continuous use between charges, and you can use the stylus while charging in a pinch. Just occasionally plug the tablet charging cable into the stylus and you’re good to go.

That flat iPad edge is used to charge Apple Pencil 2, but the Adonit accessories charge via a USB-C port. Many more makers of these types of gloves found on Amazon and in different hand sizes, and limited colors, as well!There’s no more convenient place to store your stylus than attached to your iPad. You will not be able to lay your palm on the screen, while you write or draw, unless you use special, non-body electrical conducting, lycra®-based material drawing glove that work by isolating your hand/palm electrical signals and allow you to lay your hand/palm on the screen as you draw or write. These stylii work with any sketching/drawing/painting/notes/writing apps.

These types of stylii have NO screen pressure sensing NOR any hand/palm rejection. The battery in these stylli send a tiny electrical pulses to the fine tip of the stylus, simulating a finger touch. Look on Amazon for fine tipped, so-called, “active”, battery powered ( sometime rechargeable battery powered ) capacitive stylii. There aren't ANY good stylii for older iPads and the 2017 5th gen iPad, any longer.
